Introducing TikTok Notes, a new photo app just launched in Australia and Canada by video giant Tiktok.
The latest talk in the ever changing social media landscape is of a new app released today by TikTok owner and tech giant ByteDance. The app, which goes by the name TikTok Notes, allows users to post photos and share text in the same way that Instagram began.
Wondering why TikTok would be taking this direction?
So were we. After a little bit of digging we found that although TikTok has seen a huge growth in popularity in recent years and sees users spending more time on the app than its rival, Instagram continues to see more downloads and users. With TikTok boasting an astonishing 1.12 billion users, it is still less than the 3.049 billion Facebook users, 2.491 billion Youtube users, 2 billion WhatsApp users and 1.47 billion Instagram users, which could be why we will be seeing another app soon. And that’s not all, the brand is also looking to support text posts similar to X and Threads, as well as 30-minute-long videos to rival YouTube.
Although the tech giant might be rolling out new content formats, that isn’t to say that video is dead. Instead, the platform is looking to engage users that might not be comfortable with using video or being filmed, using these alternatives to capture the attention of a broader audience.
The takeaway?
As the platforms continue to play copycat and make changes to the way users can use and share content on their apps, it is now more important than ever to have a content strategy that is adaptable. Remaining fluid with the ability to evolve and diversify is what is needed in this ever-changing landscape to ensure success for brands and businesses.
