Project Information
We quietly launched our new gallery space with an exhibition for Melbourne Design Week—PLACARD. A better world is intrinsically linked to equality. How can we as individuals effect change? Protests have long been a powerful movement for people to fight for their rights, disrupt power structures, expose injustice, demand accountability and effect real change. While protests have changed the world, there is still a long way to go towards equality for all. The exhibition 'Placard' responds to Melbourne Design Week’s theme ‘Design the World you Want’ and explores the theme of design within protests, demonstrations and marches, where wanting a better future is the explicit ask. We examine how art and design have been used as a tool for social and political change throughout history, and how individuals can use design to heal, repair and work towards social change. This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2025, an initiative of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
